The Autism Connection

People investigating autism are finding information I keep discovering relevant to my health problems. Heavy metal damage is probably the underlying factor.

Dr. Amy Yasko

  • The Canary in the Coal Mine: "What we see for autism is actually a more serious example of what we are experiencfing as a sodiety: that underlying genetics combined with infectious diseases and environmental toxins creates a situation that predisposes us to a range of non ideal health conditions."
  • Nutrigenomics: Yasko has designed a series of genomics tests to identify what nutrients will actually be helpful for an individual, and which will not be properly metabolized.

Willis S. Langford

  • His site
  • His email/web forum, on Yahoo!, is called Williss: "a place for parents to exchange ideas and experiences and find help for Autistic, Down's, and ADHD Kids." Since I'm not one of those parents, I "lurk" - not posting, just reading — but learning a lot! A very active conversation there, with Langford participating.
  • His masterwork:
    • At first titled "To Infuse or Not to Infuse; A Comprehensive Guide to Managing Autism" - copies of this version are still in various places around the Web, because so many people found it important.
    • Then the subtitle became the title; you can find this one too.
    • Now it's called A Comprehensive Guide to Mastering Autism. I've found it in two places so far:
      • on his site, as a PDF file dated May 15, 2006
      • in the files available only to members of the Yahoo! Willss group: a zip file of an MS Word (ie ".doc") version from May 16, 2007. (You have to join the group to dowload the files).
    • The text is dense with useful information. Formatting is not easy to read, and navigation aids virtually nonexistent — but this work is monumentally important.
    • Langford says at the beginning "Warning: Do not scan and read this paper piecemeal. It must be studied to avoid mis-steps"
  • There's a lot more posted in the Yahoo! Groups file; I plan to study it all.
